WHEN SHOULD I DISCUSS MY ASSESSMENT WITH THE ASSESSOR’S OFFICE?
You can talk about your property assessment at any time during the year.
But if you do not agree with your assessment, the most important time to act is in late August and early September. During this time, the assessment rolls are open for public review. This is also the only time you can legally file a protest if you and the assessor cannot agree on the value.
Some people wait until they receive their tax bill in early December to ask questions about their assessment. We can still talk with you then, but you cannot file a legal protest at that time.
